RE: Future of Lotus Notes ~Justin Minluternivu 11.Nov.02 11:12 PM a Web browser General All ReleasesAll Platforms
No matter what the future of Notes is (and I agree with Gerko), you ought to be a bit more concerned with your own future. One-trick ponies can find it hard to survive when the circus they're with packs it in. Even if Notes and Domino are going strong, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to remain with the platform -- circumstances tend to get in the way. The same sort of thing applies to Oracle -- but SQL (in general terms) and Java just might come in handy. Whaddaya know -- those two will be handy if you stay in the Notes/Domino world, too! Come to think of it, learning a few of Microsoft's tricks might help make your Notes apps more useful to your users as well.
It's never either/or in the IT world. Relax. Have a home-brew. And learn anything that seems like it might come in handy some day. Ya just never know.
